Waltham, MA, 25th October, 2012; Before heading to The Home Depot Center, CA for a training camp with his U.S. U15 BNT Head Coach, Tony Lepore, gave a presentation on the U.S. Soccer National team set-up to the GPS coaching staff.
As well as being the head coach of the U.S. U15 Boys National Team, Tony is the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Director of Scouting and Technical Adviser for the Academy in the Northeast division. The presentation was part of the weekly GPS professional development series, where coaches or guest speakers are brought in for the GPS coach’s development process.
“Tony and I have been friends for over 10 years and I was delighted when he was able to come and be part of our professional development series for the coaches here at GPS,” said GPS Director of Coaching Peter Bradley. “The presentation was great and gave the staff and I an insight into the National team’s development of youth players.”
Tony showed the staff a presentation that he would give to his U15 players at a training camp, which looked at the schedule and training routine, as well as, systems of play and practical sessions.
Each Monday morning during the fall and spring seasons, GPS coaches partake in a two-hour practical session aimed at the development of each coach within the club. In addition to those sessions conducted by GPS senior staff members, the club has also welcomed NCAA college coaches, US Youth National Team Regional coaches and NSCAA clinicians in the past.
“At GPS we commit to educating our staff and we are pleased to facilitate the opportunity to provide professional development seminars, which aid the individual growth of all of our coaches.”
