MPS coaches enjoying the High School season

Waltham, 12th October 2012; MPS Coaches Lee Billiard (U14 & U16 Renegades), Justin Capell (U12 Renegades), Martyn Emery (U17 & U18 Crusaders), James Hamblin (U15 & U18 Renegades), Tim Mason (U11 & U15 Bulldogs), Tom McEnery (U14 Bulldogs Select), Steve Schechter (U16 & U18 Bulldogs) and Karl Southwick (U12, U15 & U17 Lady Knights) are currently half way through their High School soccer season.

On the girl’s side, Billiard is in his fourth season at Acton-Boxboro and Hamblin leads the Newton North Tigers for the fourth season as well, whilst colleague Karl Southwick is the new coach at Bedford HS.

Hamblin has an impressive record this season of 7-2-3 and is looking to make the play-offs again this season. Billiard has a 6-4-1 record so far this season, and on of his victories was against Southwick’s Bedford Buccaneers.

Switching genders, Capell will head the Natick boy’s program for his third year as head coach, and Schechter has been at Beaver Country Day School for four seasons. Both Mason and McEnery have been with Wellesley and Weston respectively for two years, and Emery is in charge for his first season at Stoughton HS.

The Raiders have started strong with a 9-2 record and coach Mason has eight MPS players in his starting XI. When Mason met Capell’s Natick team earlier in the season the game finished 4-3 to Wellesley, all 7 goals were scored by MPS players. Natick went 2-0 up and the Raiders pulled it back with Auris Kveraga from the U17 Bulldogs scoring the winner.

“As part of the MPS mission statement, it is the club’s goal to enhance the soccer experience of players in Massachusetts and we are delighted to send these eight fantastic coaches into the community to guide High School programs this fall,” said MPS Director of Coaching Peter Bradley.
