Waltham, MA, 15th August 2012; As the Director of Coaching for the MPS Central region I am delighted to announce the MPS Awards for the 2011/2012 season. A great deal of thought has gone into this selection process and although we are identifying individuals, I want to applaud the teamwork and spirit that has been displayed by all Cavaliers and Lady Cavaliers players this season. I am very proud of the strides that we have made in a short period of time.
The 2011/2012 season saw the full launch of the central mass based program with 5 teams in the fall of 2011 at both Premier and SOE level. By spring 2012 that number had increased to 9 and the Cavaliers/Lady Cavaliers competed in the NEP for the first time. The coaching team of Martin Cropper, Mark Shanahan and I saw the teams improve on a weekly basis and were more than satisfied with some sterling performances on the field throughout spring. I would like to take this opportunity to thanks all players, parents and coaching staff for their support in growing the success of this program and I look forward to seeing you all in the upcoming season that will see no fewer than 20 Cavalier/Lady Cavalier teams kick off the 2012/2013 season. Finally, a special mention and congratulations must go out to the U14 Lady Cavaliers and coach Cropper for their Needham Memorial tournament success back in May.
